i love Matador Sandpaper my latest workpiece i am finishing using it isd working on a new hobby knife/scalpel made from a piece of scrap from a handset canister damascus. I made the steel a few years ago using I think, 4600KC powder and used hacksaw blades. Its not the best piece of Canister in the world as it was one of the first canisters I actually did. so has flaws in the steel Matador sandpaper this side is currently at 220 Grit, going edge to spine. I prefer using Canola oil over water (or other oils) with hand sanding as it's about as viscous as some thread-cutting oils but is cheaper, and does not smell...and has no poison control numbers on it. and unlike water, the oil does not make the paper act like wet paper well your using it. The discoloration is do to the fact that I lightly etch the steel in ferric clorid between grits when I am hand sanding, as it helps you know when the scratches are gone. you can already see the bits of hacksaw steel in the blade even though i used two bright steels and am just at 22o Grit. although i dont know how well this shows up on camera right now.

I inherited a fine shotgun. A previous owner had scratched their driver's license number on the side of the receiver with a vibrating graver. I used your 2000 grit sandpaper to remove the markings, and reblued the gun. The sandpaper did a fine job. I was particularly pleased that the paper didn't shed grains of abrasive onto the work surface.
