Microcrystalline abrasive grain fractures during use, continuously revealing fresh, sharp edges. These belts have a visible stearate topcoat for cooler grinding. This produces a mottled appearance and does not affect the abrasive grain distribution. J weight sanding belts are great for slack belt sanding, contours, and getting into hard to reach places. Their versatility make them a great choice for knife makers, blacksmiths, welders, or anyone finishing metals.

Why Use A Flexible Belt?
Our J-weight sanding belts are sometimes also called flexible belts. Abrasives are categorized by letter weight based on thickness and flexibility. A-weight belts are the most flexible while Y-weight belts are the sturdiest and least flexible types of belts. J-weight belts strike a nice balance between being flexible and sturdy (due to a cloth backing).
The belts are labeled with a J, because they share similar properties with jeans. They are both pliable and durable. Our J-weight flexible ceramic belts work well for sanding and finishing circular edges, angles, and round surfaces, like knife handles or crankshafts, because they’re able to curve with a curved surface to provide an even finish. If you’re working on a piece with surfaces that aren’t completely flat, you may benefit from having a flexible belt at your disposal.
