Our 5” hook and loop orange sanding discs are both versatile and durable. The discs are manufactured with a premium waterproof polyester film and an industrial grade aluminum oxide abrasive grain. They work well for both wet and dry sanding and are commonly used for auto body work. The discs may also be used for sanding and finishing fiberglass, plastic, and composites. Other popular uses include marine finishing and high-gloss finishing.
The aluminum oxide grain provides a fast cut rate with excellent longevity. This polyester disc offers superior strength and durability when compared to paper backed sanding discs. The flexible polyester film backing also offers superior performance when sanding uneven surfaces such as curves, corners, and other edge sanding applications.
The discs come in packs of 50. If you order the assorted pack, you’ll receive 10 discs each of five different grits (800, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000).
IMPORTANT: The extra thick zinc stearate coating on these discs offers superior lubrication and requires less water than typically used in wet applications. Water misting is more effective than a steady stream. Material released from the disc surface during use isNOT abrasive grain, it is zinc stearate. This coating is designed to slough off gradually while providing close tolerance and a perfectly even surface finish.

What Sanders Will These Discs Work With?
Our 5” hook and loop wet and dry sanding discs will fit any sander that supports 5” discs. The hook and loop backing is designed for disc sanders with a velcro pad. If your disc sander doesn’t support hook and loop discs, you can buy a converter pad, which will allow you to use hook and loop discs with your existing disc sander. Hook and loop discs give you the ability to easily alternate and re-use discs. Red Label also manufacturesdiscs with adhesive backings.

I used the 2000 grit discs for color sanding a 1973 Mustang new paint job. It quickly and evenly removed the orange peel and did not clog. Everything pass on the panel I’d simply wipe off the disc with a lint free rag and go back to sanding. I’m very pleased with the disc’s performance and longevity.

I attempted to remove paint from flat sheet metal. Since the discs are cut from a roll of material they retain their “pringles” shape and therefore bounce when attached to my sander. The abrasive quickly dulled and filled with paint. I did not have this problem with traditional sanding discs
