Our 1 x 18 inch knife sharpening sanding belts are unbeatable. All of the belts with the exception of our 80 grit belts (which are ceramic) use a premium aluminum oxide metalworking grit material specifically designed for knife sharpening and grinding. Red Label’s precision built bi-directional tape joints allow belts to run in either direction. The belts are also manufactured with a flexible, J-weight polyester backing to make sharpening easier.

Red Label’s 1 x 18 inch knife sharpening sanding belts will work with any tool that uses 1 x 18 inch belts. It’s important to note that these belts are compatible with the Work Sharp Ken Onion Blade Grinder Attachment. However, they are not compatible with the Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener (WSKTS) or the base model Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener - Ken Onion Edition (WSKTS-KO).
The Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener uses ½” x 12” sharpening belts while the base model Ken Onion edition uses ¾” x 12” sharpening belts. Red Label also sells sharpening belts in these sizes.
Our 1 x 18 knife sharpening belts are available in a variety of different grit options. You can buy a pack of one grit, or you can buy our multi grit assortment pack to get an assortment of different grits. The assortment pack is a great option to be able to obtain a smaller quantity of several different grits at an affordable price. Our pack options can be found below.

Was searching for a less expensive alternative to WorkSharp belts that would last at least as long. Decided to test Red Label and they proved equal to in not better in performance and longevity at a lesser total price when shipping is taken into account. Have ordered multiple times since.

SO much better than the Worksharp equivalent! The course grit cuts fast and lasts a long time! I have them for my 1x18, 1x30, hopefully upgrading to a 2x72 soon.
Darn good belts. I managed to shape the handle of my first knife pretty seamlessly with the 80 grit ceramic belt, I then refined the finish by hand with sandpaper, but the belts did what they had to do very effectively. I also put the final edge on the knife with my RLA belts... sadly, I was using old worn belt to profile the grind and paid dearly for my impatience. For Knife #2 it's going to be 100% with red label belts!
Love these belts. The 80 grit ceramic is a beast and sets the secondary bevel quickly. The other belts fill in the missing grits for my worksharp tool. Makes my sharpening business a breeze. I highly recommend these belts.

I have a work sharp knife sharpener and I wanted to find an alternative to buying from Workshop . The product is good but the shipping time is slow. I don’t think it should have take that long given it was sent priority mail. Also the belts didn’t arrive in a box like they did the last time.

I am a WorkSharp equipment user and have been for almost 10 years. WS recently doubled the cost of their 18" belts which forced me to look for alternatives for my business, The Sharper Edge. I've used them on about 40 knives so far and they are quiet and seem to be as long lived as the WS belts. Perhaps they run just a tad hotter, but not destructively so.
I bought these belts hoping that they would be better than what worksharp belts are. The second I opened the package and felt the belt I knew I had made the right choice. These belt perform far better than I could have ever hoped, what an Outstanding product.

Got these belts to replace the originals that came with the Ken Onion Blade Grinding Attachment and they work great! I only sharpen knives currently and the grit progression is good (350 and up). The quality seems excellent and I like that the grit number is right on the belts to easily identify the right one. I appreciate the variety pack to help me dial in the right combination for knife sharpening. The 80 grit belt is very stiff, a little shorter than the rest, and is a bit wobbly, but once I got it centered it works well. Just start off slow until you get it adjusted properly. Overall, highly recommended and I just placed an order for some 120 grit belts as well!

I have been using 2x72 Red Label belts for knife making for several years. I have never had one break and they are top notch for knife work. I recently started using a 1x18 for sharpening and they are the best. Overall a super company to work with. Any problems, they are there for you!!!
the 1 x 18 80 grit is the best i've found for the first pass when shaping a knife prior to sharpening. Fast, effective, not too much heat build up and long lasting.
