4x132" Industrial Grade Zirconia Grinding Belts
Our industrial grade zirconia sanding belts are a great choice for heavy duty grinding applications. Zirconia’s self-sharpening abrasive grains extend belt life up to 2.5 times longer than aluminum oxide. Zirconia fractures during use, continuously revealing sharp abrasive grain. Its durability makes it a great choice for knife makers, blacksmiths, welders, or anyone working with metals. While it will not match the longevity of ceramic abrasives, zirconia is a cost-effective alternative. These belts can be used for both wet and dry applications. They are hand-built in the USA.

Red Label Abrasives sells 3”x132” belts in two different abrasive grain types: zirconia and aluminum oxide. Aluminum oxide is the workhorse of the abrasive world. It is the most popular abrasive grain, but that doesn’t necessarily make it the best. Aluminum oxide is the least expensive abrasive grain, but it also has the shortest lifespan. Zirconia belts can last up to 2.5 times longer than aluminum oxide belts and typically work better for heavy stock removal on harder materials. Zirconia is designed for grinding hard metals like titanium and stainless steel. This grain type doesn’t just work well on metal either. Zirconia also works well on aluminum and wood materials. You can read the full breakdown on the differences between abrasive grain types on ourAbrasives 101 guide.
Our 3x132 inch zirconia belts will work on any grinder or belt sander that is designed for 3”x132” belts. If you’re not sure what size belts your machine takes, you can either cut an old belt and measure the full length and width or wrap a string around your machine like a belt and measure the length of the string along with the width of the contact wheel.
