Perfecting The Craft Annual Scholarship

Red Label Abrasives was founded with the goal of helping the makers of the world perfect their craft. We manufacture premium-quality sanding belts, sanding discs, and sanding rolls so that furniture, tool, auto, boat, and art makers can create polished pieces of work with a smooth finish. When an individual perfects their craft everyone wins. Those who have mastered their craft provide us with world-class products, ideas, and services. 

Red Label Abrasives would like to help students perfect their craft (whatever their craft may be) by helping to support them in their educational endeavors. Perfection comes with a combination of time, practice, and knowledge. Red Label founded the annual Perfecting The Craft scholarship to help students focus on the knowledge component. 

Overview Of The Perfecting The Craft Scholarship

The Perfecting The Craft scholarship is an annual $500 scholarship designed to help propel students to become masters of their craft. We hope to encourage students to genuinely reflect on what they want to provide the world and how they are working to build the necessary skills. 

Red Label is asking students to give us a glimpse of their craft. Show us what it is you’re passionate about and how you’re working to perfect it. Submissions can be in any media format (photo, video, audio, slideshow, etc.). Regardless of the format used, submissions should include an explanation on how the student plans to perfect their craft. Written explanations can accompany other submissions such as images if needed. 

Scholarship Eligibility & Requirements

The scholarship is open to all U.S. citizens entering or attending a college or university, or trade school in the United States as a full-time student. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above. Students must submit a scholarship application form in addition to submitting a piece on their passion. The following materials should be submitted to outreach@fintechabrasives.com by August 15th: 

• A completed scholarship application form
• A certified copy of student transcripts
• A written and/or media submission on your craft 

Scholarship Award

• The recipient of the annual Perfecting The Craft Scholarship will receive $500 to be used only for college, university, or trade school tuition and related educational expenses. 
• The $500 check will be made payable to the recipient’s school.
• The application period for the scholarship ends August 15th. The award recipient will be notified by September 7th. 
• Students retain full ownership of their submissions. Red Label Abrasives will ask for permission to use submission content, the student's name, the student's school and/or pictures on the company's website and social media pages. 

Scholarship Deadline

The deadline for the submission period is August 15th. All completed scholarship materials need to be emailed to outreach@fintechabrasives.com before the end of the day on August 15th. Any submissions received after August 15th will not be considered for the current year, but may be considered for the following year’s annual scholarship.

This site does not collect any personally identifying information about you aside from the information you knowingly and specifically provide to us via your scholarship submission. We do not share, trade, rent, or sell any of this information with non-related third parties. The information we receive is purely used to decide on a recipient for the scholarship.

Red Label’s 2025 Scholarship Winner - Niki Chan

We're thrilled to announce that we've awarded Niki Chan as this year's winner of our annual Perfecting The Craft Scholarship! Niki is working towards a Bachelor of Applied Science in Blacksmithing at the American College of the Building Arts. 

Niki first started forging in 2020 as a high school freshman. While stuck at home for his first year in high school, he built a DIY forge in his backyard. Niki started making knives and carving wooden spoons, but expanded into forging a wide variety of household objects and tools. 

We were immediately impressed with Niki's work. The breadth and depth of his pieces speak volumes to the talent he possesses. When not at school or working to pay for tuition, Niki can be found at the school's blacksmith shop, honing his skills as an artisan. 

We're very happy to be able to support Niki in his educational journey. We look forward to seeing his progress and the pieces he produces as he continues to perfect his craft.
