Red Label Abrasives was founded with the goal of helping the makers of the world perfect their craft. We manufacture premium-quality sanding belts, sanding discs, and sanding rolls so that furniture, tool, auto, boat, and art makers can create polished pieces of work with a smooth finish. When an individual perfects their craft everyone wins. Those who have mastered their craft provide us with world-class products, ideas, and services.
Red Label Abrasives would like to help students perfect their craft (whatever their craft may be) by helping to support them in their educational endeavors. Perfection comes with a combination of time, practice, and knowledge. Red Label founded the annual Perfecting The Craft scholarship to help students focus on the knowledge component.
The Perfecting The Craft scholarship is an annual $500 scholarship designed to help propel students to become masters of their craft. We hope to encourage students to genuinely reflect on what they want to provide the world and how they are working to build the necessary skills.
Red Label is asking students to give us a glimpse of their craft. Show us what it is you’re passionate about and how you’re working to perfect it. Submissions can be in any media format (photo, video, audio, slideshow, etc.). Regardless of the format used, submissions should include an explanation on how the student plans to perfect their craft. Written explanations can accompany other submissions such as images if needed.
The scholarship is open to all U.S. citizens entering or attending a college or university, or trade school in the United States as a full-time student. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above. Students must submit a scholarship application form in addition to submitting a piece on their passion. The following materials should be submitted to outreach@fintechabrasives.com by August 15th:
The deadline for the submission period is August 15th. All completed scholarship materials need to be emailed to outreach@fintechabrasives.com before the end of the day on August 15th. Any submissions received after August 15th will not be considered for the current year, but may be considered for the following year’s annual scholarship.

Red Label is pleased to announce Kelsey McGuire as our 2022 annual Perfecting The Craft scholarship recipient. Kelsey is working on her Associates Degree in STEM Liberal Arts from Madison Area Technical College.
Kelsey submitted wooden tables she helped to build. Kelsey had fundraised to buy the materials for the tables, and led the team of women that assembled the tables. This was the first exposure to power tools and woodworking for many of the women on the team. Kelsey was excited to train them and thoroughly enjoyed being able to create a finished product that the entire community will be able to enjoy.
Kelsey is working to perfect her woodworking craft with persistent learning and experimentation. She hopes to be able to use her skills and experience to teach more women woodworking skills.David Kranker is a writer and creative maker who has been covering the abrasive and knife-making industries on the Red Label Abrasives Blog since 2020.
