Perfecting The Craft Scholarship

Red Label Abrasives was founded with the goal of helping the makers of the world perfect their craft. We manufacture premium-quality sanding belts, sanding discs, and sanding rolls so that furniture, tool, auto, boat, and art makers can create polished pieces of work with a smooth finish. When an individual perfects their craft everyone wins. Those who have mastered their craft provide us with world-class products, ideas, and services.

Red Label Abrasives would like to help students perfect their craft (whatever their craft may be) by helping to support them in their educational endeavors. Perfection comes with a combination of time, practice, and knowledge. Red Label founded the annual Perfecting The Craft scholarship to help students focus on the knowledge component.

Overview Of The Perfecting The Craft Scholarship

The Perfecting The Craft scholarship is an annual $500 scholarship designed to help propel students to become masters of their craft. We hope to encourage students to genuinely reflect on what they want to provide the world and how they are working to build the necessary skills.

Red Label is asking students to give us a glimpse of their craft. Show us what it is you’re passionate about and how you’re working to perfect it. Submissions can be in any media format (photo, video, audio, slideshow, etc.). Regardless of the format used, submissions should include an explanation on how the student plans to perfect their craft. Written explanations can accompany other submissions such as images if needed.

Red Label’s 2021 Scholarship Winner - Aimee Gerlach

Aimee Gerlach

Red Label is pleased to announce Aimee Gerlach as our 2021 annual Perfecting The Craft scholarship recipient. Aimee is working on her Master of Science in Education at Purdue University with a concentration in English language learning.

Outside of working towards her degree, Aimee is also a stained glass sculptor. Stained glasses pieces are generally two-dimensional, but Aimee likes to push her abilities and her craft to try to create more complex three-dimensional pieces. Aimee has created stained glass planters, stained glass representations of mapped locations, reliquaries, and more.

Aimee is working to perfect her sculpting craft with persistent learning and experimentation. Currently, Aimee is working on trying to make larger pieces. Aimee is working on learning how to support larger structures so that they don’t cave in.

The team at Red Label was incredibly impressed with the quality and variety in Aimee’s stained glass work. We’re honored to provide her with funds to continue her education and we look forward to seeing the works she creates in the years to come.
